唐武德五年（622年）复置，属南绥州（1）。治所在今广东省四会县江谷镇（2）。贞观十三年（639年）省（3）。

（1），《唐书》卷43上?地理7?广州南海郡：四会县，“武德五年以四会、化蒙二县置南绥州，并析置新招、化注、化穆三县。贞观元年省新招、化注，以废威州之怀集、废齐州之洊安隶之。八年更名浈州。十三年州废，省化穆，以四会、化蒙、怀集、洊安来属。”（北京，中华书局，1975年，4册，1095页）。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷448?肇庆府?古迹?化穆废县：“在广宁县东南。宋元嘉中置，属绥建郡。齐以后废。唐武德五年复置，属南绥州，贞观十三年州省。县志，化穆废县在今县东南五十里大圃都康谷村。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，167册）。宣统元年《广东地舆全图》广宁县图：县东南有江谷墟。当是康谷村。今为江谷镇，属广东省四会县。（台湾，成文出版社《中国方志丛书》第108号）。
