明成化十四年（1478年），析阳江、新兴、新会三县地复置恩平县，属肇庆府，清因之（1）。治所即今广东省恩平县（2）。1912年废府留县（3）。

（1），《明史》45?地理六?广东?肇庆府：“元肇庆路，属广东道。洪武元年为府。领州一、县十一：高要，倚；高明，本高要县高明镇巡检司，成化十一年十二月改为县，析清泰等都益之；…恩平，本阳江县之恩平巡检司，初治县东北之恩平故县，后迁恩平堡。成化十四年六月改堡为县，析新兴、新会二县地益之。”（北京，中华书局，1974年，4册，1136页）。
《嘉庆一统志》卷447?肇庆府一?高明县：“明成化十一年分置高明县，属肇庆府。本朝因之。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，167册）。
