隋开皇十八年（598年）以宋康县改名，属高州（1）。治所在今广东省阳江市西北双捷镇（2）。大业二年（606年）废入杜原县（3）。

（1），《隋书》卷31?地理下?高凉郡：梁置高州。杜原县：“旧曰杜陵。梁置杜陵郡，又有永宁、宋康二郡。平陈，并废为县。十八年改杜陵曰杜原，宋康曰义康。大业二年二县并废入杜原。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，882页）。
（2），《读史方舆纪要》卷101?肇庆府?阳江县?广化废县：“在县西北。三国吴析高凉县地置广化县，为高兴郡治。晋因之，后并郡入高凉。宋元嘉九年复析置宋康郡，治广化县。齐、梁因之。隋平陈废郡，为宋康县，属高州，开皇十八年又改曰义康，大业二年省入杜原县。”（北京，中华书局，1955年，5册，4211页）。故县在阳江县西北，今姑定于阳江市西北双捷镇。
