宋咸平三年（1000年）复置，属韶州（1）。治所即今广东省仁化县（2）。元属韶州路（3），明清属韶州府（4）。1912年废府留县（5）。

（1），《宋史》卷90?地理6?韶州?仁化县：“开宝五年，废入乐昌。咸平三年，复置。”（北京，中华书局，1977年，7册，2236页）。
（2），《读史方舆纪要》卷101?广东二?韶州府?仁化县：仁化旧城，“县北百三十里。志云，尉陀自王南越，筑城于此。唐垂拱中，置县于仁化乡之走马坪，在古城南二十里。宋咸平中，改置县于光泽乡，即今治也。”（北京，中华书局，1955年，5册，4244页）。《嘉庆一统志》卷444?韶州府?古迹：“仁化故城，在仁化县北。萧齐置，后废。唐复置。宋开宝五年，废入乐昌县，咸平三年复置，乃改建于光泽乡，即今治也。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，165册）。明、清仁化县治即今广东省仁化县。
