隋开皇十年（590年）置，属广州（1）。治所在今广东省清远县西北珠坑镇（2）。仁寿元年（601年）属番州，大业三年（607年）属南海郡，唐武德四年（621年）属广州（3）。唐武德六年（623年）省（4）。

（1），《隋书》卷31?地理下?南海郡?政宾县：“旧置东官郡。平陈，郡废。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，881页）。《元和郡县图志》卷34?广州?清远县：“本汉中宿县地也，梁武帝于此置清远郡，中宿县属之。隋开皇十年废郡，置清远县，属广州。”（北京，中华书局，下册，890-891页）。据此，姑作隋开皇十年废东官郡时，置政宾县属广州。
（2），《嘉庆一统志》卷442?广州府?古迹?政宾废县：“在清远县西北。…县志，今县西北池水乡有政宾江，尚以故县为名。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，164册）。光绪《清远县志》卷2?舆地?村落：池水乡领十六堡九十村。第一堡即珠坑堡（台湾，成文出版社《中国方志丛书》第54号26页）。宣统元年《广东地舆全图》清远县图：县西北珠坑墟有滨江司巡司村（台湾，成文出版社《中国方志丛书》第108号）。今姑据此定政宾县于今清远县西北珠坑镇。
（3），《元和郡县图志》卷34?岭南道?广州：“隋开皇九年平陈，于广州置总管府，仁寿元年改广州为番州，大业三年罢番州为南海郡。隋末陷贼，武德四年讨平萧铣，复为广州。”（北京，中华书局，1983年，下册，885-886页）。
