三国吴置。⑴治所在今湖南邵东县驻地两市镇东。⑵属昭陵郡。西晋永嘉中并入邵阳县。⑶
⑴《读史方舆纪要》卷81《湖广七》：“新城，府东九十里。《志》云：三国吴置新城县，属邵陵郡，晋并入邵阳。”（北京，中华书局，4册，3470页）
按：因无具体年代，暂作三国吴宝鼎元年（266年）置昭陵郡时同置。
⑵宋本《太平寰宇记》卷115《江南西道十三》：“古新县城在县东九十里。孙吴置，晋永嘉中并入邵阳县，其城废。”
《湖南省志》第2卷《地理志（修订本）》第2篇《沿革》：“新城吴立。今邵东县地。故城在今邵东县境。”（湖南人民出版社，上册，451页）
按：因具体地点难以考证，同《中国历史地图集》新城县定点。
