唐神龙元年（705）以武盛县改名。⑴治所在今湖南宁远县驻地舜陵镇。属道州。⑵天宝元年（742）改名延唐县。⑶
⑴⑶晋?刘昫：《旧唐书》卷40《地理三》：又：“延唐，汉冷道县，属零陵郡，古城在今县东界南四十里。隋平陈，废冷道入营道县，仍于冷道废城置营道县。武德四年，移营道县于州郭置，仍于此置唐兴县。长寿二年，改名武盛。神龙元年，复为唐兴。天宝元年，改为延唐。”（北京，中华书局，1975年，第5册，第1617页）
⑵《旧唐书》卷40《地理三》：“道州，中。隋零陵郡之永阳县。武德四年，平萧铣，置营州，领营道、江华、永阳、唐兴四县。五年，改为南营州。贞观八年，改为道州，仍省永阳县。十七年废，并入永州。上元二年，复析置永州置。天寳元年，改为江华郡。乾元元年，复为道州。”（中华书局，第5册，第1616页）",
