南宋绍兴元年（1131）以辰阳县复名。⑴治所即今湖南汉寿县驻地城关镇。属鼎州。绍兴五年（1135）改置龙阳军。⑵
⑴元?脱脱：《宋史》卷88《地理四》：“龙阳。中。大观中，改辰阳。绍兴元年复旧。五年，升军使，移治黄城砦。三十年，复县。”（中华书局，1977年校点本，第7册，第2195页）
按：此处“大观中”暂作大观二年（1108）。
《舆地纪胜》卷68《荆湖北路》：“《皇朝郡县志》云：大观中改为辰阳县，绍兴元年复旧。”（中华书局本，第3册，第2307页）
又按：辰阳县复名龙阳县，一作绍兴三年。《宋史》中华书局校勘记：“绍兴元年原作‘绍兴三年’，据《宋会要?方域》六之三四、《舆地纪胜》卷六八引《皇朝郡县志》改。”（中华书局，1977年校点本，第7册，第2205页）明清方志亦作绍兴三年。如嘉靖《常德府志》卷1《地里志》：龙阳，“宋大观中改曰辰阳，绍兴三年复旧名，为中县（二千户以上为中）。”（上海古籍书店，《天一阁藏明代方志选刊》，第56册）
