东汉改置烝阳县置。⑴治所在今湖南衡阳市区西北。⑵属零陵郡。三国初废为县。⑶
⑴《续汉书?郡国志》：“烝阳侯国，故属长沙。”（《后汉书》，北京，中华书局，12册，3483页）
按：因无具体年份，暂作光武帝建武元年（公元25年）。
⑵《元和郡县图志》卷29《江南道五》：“蒸阳故城，在县西一百七十里。”（北京，中华书局，下册，第705页）
《读史方舆纪要》卷80《湖广六》：“承阳城，府西百七十里。汉县，后汉曰烝阳，属零陵郡。三国吴改属衡阳郡。晋因之。太元中省。其故城亦曰烝城。”（北京，中华书局，第4册，第3444页）
《湖南古今地名辞典》：承阳县，“西汉置，属长沙国。治所在今衡阳市区西北，一说在今邵东县东南。”（湖南出版社，第140页）
