唐武德四年（621）置。⑴治所在今湖南攸县驻地城关镇西北荫山港一带。⑵属南云州。贞观元年（627）废。
⑴《新唐书》卷41《地理五》：“攸，中。武德四年置南云州，又析置茶陵、安乐、阴山、新兴、建宁五县。贞观元年州废，省茶陵、安乐、阴山、新兴、建宁，以攸来属。”（北京，中华书局，4册，1071页）
《旧唐书》卷40《地理三》：“衡州中……贞观元年，以废南云州之攸县来属。”（北京，中华书局，5册，1613页）
⑵《读史方舆纪要》卷80《湖广六》：“阴山城，在县西北六十里。汉置县，属桂阳郡，三国吴时改置于此，属湘东郡。”
