西汉元朔四年（前125年），封定王子訢为荼（茶）陵节侯。⑴治所在今湖南茶陵县驻地城关镇东北八团乡古城营（俗称茶王城）。⑵属桂阳郡。太初元年（前104年）国除，改置为茶陵县。⑶

⑵宋本《太平寰宇记》卷115《江南西道十三》：“又按《图经》云：茶陵者，所谓陵谷名焉。今攸县东一百四十里茶陵故城，是汉为理所，俗名茶王城。”
