西汉高帝六年（前201年）置建成县(1)，属长沙国，约元朔四年（前125年）建为侯国（2）。治今江西高安（3）。
注：
（1）《汉书》卷1《高帝纪下》：五年“其以长沙、豫章、象郡、桂林、南海立番君芮为长沙王。”（北京，中华书局，1962年，1册，53页）卷28上《地理志上》豫章郡：“高帝置。”（6册，1593页））明正德《瑞州府志·郡县表》汉高帝六年置建城县。（上海书店，《天一阁藏明代方志选刊续编》，42册，607页）是高帝五年已有豫章郡，今从方志作六年置县。
（2）《汉志》豫章郡领十八县，其中有建成。《史记》卷21《建元以来王子侯表》元朔四年封。（北京，中华书局，1959年，3册，1096页。）《汉书》卷15《王子侯表三上》（2册，458页。）同。谭其骧《秦郡界址考》云：“汉武帝时，以宜春、建成、安平为长沙王子封国，疑其先亦当属长沙。”（北京，人民出版社，1987年，上册，18页。）姑从之。
