唐武德四年（621年）以余干县地置玉亭县，属饶州，七年（624年）省入长城县（1）。约治今江西余江县（邓埠镇）北锦江镇附近（2）。

（2）《清嘉庆一统志》卷312《饶州府二·古迹》：玉亭废县“在余干县东南。”长城废县“《名胜志》今安仁县长城乡，是其废址。”（商务印书馆，1934年，《四部丛刊续编》，115册，3页。）清同治十一年《安仁县志》卷2《疆域·市镇》长城乡领四都十村，（《中国方志丛书》华中地方770号，成文出版社有限公司，1册，198页。）其中邓埠村（市）清曾置县丞于此，谷地较广，邻近信江支流，交通便利，古代长城县或在其附近。玉亭县既并入长城县，应与长城乡相近，其时无安仁县，又安仁县附近有玉真台、玉石台等（清同治十一年《饶州府志》卷3《地舆志·古迹》。《中国方志丛书》华中地方255号，成文出版社有限公司，2册，489页。）或与此有关，姑置玉亭县于邓埠北的原安仁县，1914年改安仁县为余江县，1961年县治由锦江镇迁至邓埠镇。",
