西晋太康元年（280年）改西平县置，属临川郡。（1）治所在今江西临川市南油顿墟。（2）南朝宋、齐、梁、陈同。（3）隋开皇九年（589年）併入临川县。（4）

（1）《宋书》卷36《州郡志二·江州》临川内史西丰侯相：“吴立曰西平，晋武帝太康元年（280年）改名。”（北京,中华书局,1974年,4册,1088页）按：此时王国、侯国作郡、县处理。
（2）清《嘉庆一统志》卷322《抚州府一·古迹》西丰故城：吴太平二年（257年）分临汝县置西平县，晋改西丰。“《县志》：西丰故县在(临川）县西南五十里,今呼为游城。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，118册，16页）按:今临川市西南四十余里处有油顿墟。（《江西省地图集》，江西省地图编辑委员会，1963年，82、83页）清临川县即今临川市。游城与油顿音近，道里也合，姑作故西平县治，在今江西临川市西南油顿墟。西丰本西平，也当治此。
（3）《宋书》卷36《州郡志二·江州》：临川内史领有西丰侯相。（北京,中华书局,1974年,4册,1088页）按：此时王国、侯国作郡、县处理。《南齐书》卷14《州郡志上·江州》：临川郡领有西丰县。（北京,中华书局,1972年,1册,261页）清洪齮孙《补梁疆域志》卷2《高州》巴山郡下,据《隋志》崇仁县：“梁置巴山郡，领西丰、新安……七县。”作属巴山郡。（《二十五史补编》，北京，中华书局1956年，4册，4394、4395页）而今本《隋书》卷26《地理志·临川郡》崇仁县下，作“梁置巴山郡，领大丰、新安……七县。”按：无西丰，只有大丰。大丰即广丰，隋避讳改。顾祖禹《读史方舆纪要》卷86《江西四·抚州府》临川县定川城：西丰城，南朝宋属临川郡，齐、梁仍旧。（北京，中华书局，1955年，4册，3668页）故仍作属临川郡。又清臧励和《补陈疆域志》卷3《江州》：临川郡领有西丰县。（《二十五史补编》，北京，中华书局1956年，4册，4461页）
（4）《太平寰宇记》卷110《江南西道八·抚州》临川县：隋开皇九年（589年），西丰县併入临川县。（金陵书局，光绪八年刊本，21册，3页）",
