元元贞元年（1295年）升余姚县为余姚州，治今浙江余姚市，明洪武二年（1369年年）仍降为余姚县。
元元贞元年（1295年）升余姚县为余姚州，属绍兴路（1）。治今浙江余姚市（2）。至正十二十六年十二月（1367年）属绍兴府。明洪武二年（1369年年）仍降为余姚县（3）。
