隋大业十四年（618年）置。治今江苏金坛县。唐武德八年（625年）并入延陵县。
隋大业十四年（618年）置（1）。治今江苏金坛县（2）。属江都郡（3）。唐武德二年（619年）改属茅州，七年（624年）改属蒋州，八年（625年）废入延陵县（4）。
注：
（1）《太平寰宇记》卷89《江南东道一》润州金坛县：“隋大业末乱，乡人相保，立为金山县。隋亡，沈法兴据江表，仍于此置琅邪县。”（金陵书局，光绪八年刊本，17册，11页）此云金山县置于隋亡的大业末，隋亡于大业十四年（618年），则金山县置于此时的大业十四年。
（2）清《嘉庆一统志》卷1《镇江府二·古迹》：“金山故城，今金坛县治。……唐长寿元年（692年）始筑城，岁久渐圮，明正德中，改筑今城。”（《四部丛刊续编》，商务印书馆，1934年，30册，1页）按明清金坛县，即今金坛县。
（3）《至顺镇江志》卷首《郡县表》：隋，“江都郡，大业三年（607年）废润州为江都郡之延陵县”，又列金山县于隋表中（《宋元方志丛刊》，北京，中华书局，1990年，3册，2612页），当是金山县属江都郡。
（4）《太平寰宇记》卷89《江南东道一》润州金坛县：“唐武德二年（619年），李子通破法兴，改琅邪为茅州，县亦随隶。其年九月，杜伏威为吴王，县名不改，五年四月，杜伏威入朝后，县陷辅公祏。七年（624年）三月，赵郡王孝恭讨平之，其八月，于石头城置蒋州，地又属赵。八年（625年），并入延陵。”（金陵书局，光绪八年刊本，17册，10页）",
