元至元三年（1337年）迁置，属漳州路，治所在今福建平和县东北旧县1。至正十六年（1356年），迁治双溪之北，改名南靖2。

1，《元史》卷62·地理五·福建道宣慰司·漳州路：县五，“南靖，本南胜，改今名。”（北京，中华书局，1976年，5册，1507页）。《读史方舆纪要》卷99·福建五·漳州府·南靖县：“南胜城，《志》云：旧址有二，初置于县西南九围矾山之东。元顺帝至元三年，畲寇李胜等作乱，事平，乃徙治于小溪琯山之阳。至正中，又徙双溪，改名南靖。”（北京，中华书局，1955年，5册，4129页）。按：小溪，今为平和县治。至元三年迁治之南胜古城，在平和县东北旧县。（林汀水：《福建正取地名考四则》，厦们大学学报，1996年，4期，99页）。
