元至正十七年（1357年）朱元璋改长兴州为长安州。属湖州路。①治所即今浙江长兴县治。②至正二十二年（1362年）复名长兴州。③
①《明史》卷44《地理志五》：湖州府长兴县：“元长兴州。太祖丁酉年三月改名长安州，壬寅年复曰长兴。洪武二年降为县。”丁酉年为元至正17年（1357年），壬寅年为至正22年（1362年）（第4册，1106页）
②新编《长兴县志》第1卷第一章第三节县治：“晋太康三年（282）建城于富坡乡，在今县城东南20公里（李家巷一带）。咸康三年（337）县治迁溪（箬溪）北，在今县城东2里（在钮店湾附近）。唐武德七年（624）农民起义领袖辅公祏将县治移置今址，辇土为城，古城遗址今仍可见。”（13页，上海人民出版社，1992年）
