元天历二年（1329年）改盐官州为海宁州，属杭州路。①治所今浙江海宁市南盐官镇。②至正十六年（1366年）朱元璋改杭州路为杭州府，州属之。洪武二年（1369年）降为县。③
①《元史》卷62《地理志五》：杭州路：“海宁州，唐以来为盐官县。元元贞元年，以户口繁多，升为盐官州。泰定四年，海圮盐官。天历二年，改为海宁州。”（第5册，1492页）
②《清嘉庆一统志》第101册，卷284《杭州府二·古迹》：“盐官故城：今海宁州治。”第100册，卷283《杭州府一·城池》：“海宁州城，周七里有奇，门五，濠广五丈，南临海无濠。元末因宋址筑。本朝雍正五年修。乾隆二十年重修。”
