元元贞元年（1295年）升为崇德县为崇德州。属嘉兴路。①元至正二十六年（1366年）朱元璋改嘉兴路为嘉兴府，州属之。②治所即今浙江桐乡市西南崇福镇。③洪武二年（1369年）降为县。④
①《元史》卷62《地理志五》：嘉兴路：“崇德州，中，石晋置，宋因之。元元贞元年升州。”（第5册，1493页）
②《明史》卷44《地理志五》：嘉兴府“太祖丙午年十一月为府，直隶京师。十四年十一月改隶浙江。”同卷崇德县“元崇德州。洪武二年降为县。”（第4册，1103—1104页）丙午年即元至正二十六年。
③《清嘉庆一统志》102册，卷287《嘉兴府一·古迹》：“义和市，今石门县治。《寰宇记》：崇德县在秀州西南八十里。……本朝康熙元年，以县名同太宗年号，改名石门，以县有石门镇也。”1914年1月石门县改名崇德县。内政部编《中华民国行政区划简表》（16页，商务印书馆，1947年）。1958年11月撤销崇德县，地并入桐乡县。（《中华人民共和国行政区划（1949——1997）》，675页。中国社会出版社，1998年）今为崇福镇。
