宋绍兴十四年（1144年）复置，属广南西路（1）。领宜伦、昌化、感恩三县。军治宜伦县，治所即今海南省儋县西北中和镇。辖境相当今海南省儋县（和庆、兰洋、南丰地区除外）、白沙县、昌江县、东方县，以及乐东县白沙河流域（2）。端平二年（1235年），改名南宁军（3）。

（1），《宋史》卷90?地理六?广南西路?南宁军：“旧昌化军，同下州。本儋州，熙宁六年，废州为军。绍兴六年，废昌化、万安、吉阳三军为县，隶琼州。十三年，为军使。十四年复为军，以属县还隶本军。后改今名。”“县三：宜伦，昌化，感恩。”（北京，中华书局，1977年，7册，2245页）。‘后改今名’，《一统志》作端平二年改。从之。
