北宋政和六年（1116年）改寿州为寿春府，治所下蔡县（今安徽凤台县治），领县仍旧六：下蔡、六安、寿春、安丰、霍山、霍丘。辖境依旧，同寿州（957—1115年）界线。。政和八年（1118年）六安县建为军，辖境始变。①绍兴二年（1132年）下蔡县地入金，复改为寿州。
①《宋史》卷88《地理志四》：“寿春府，……本寿州。开宝中废霍山、盛唐二县。政和六年升为府。八年以府之六安县为六安军。绍兴十二年，升安丰为军，以六安、霍丘、寿春三县来隶。三十二年，升寿春为府。以安丰军隶焉。隆兴二年，军使兼知安丰县事。乾道三年罢寿春，复为安丰军。……县四：下蔡、安丰、霍丘、寿春，绍兴初，隶安丰，三十二年为府，乾道三年为倚郭。”（第7册，2182页）",
