元至正二十六年（1366年）朱元璋改宣城府为宣州府。领县六：宣城、南陵、泾县、宁国、旌德、太平。治宣城。吴元年为元至正二十七年（1367年）改曰宁国府。①
①《明史》卷40《地理志一》：“宁国府，元宁国路，属江浙行省。太祖丁酉年四月曰宁国府。辛丑年四月曰宣城府。丙午年正月曰宣州府。吴元年四月仍曰宁国府。领县六：……宣城，倚。……南陵……泾……宁国……旌德……太平。”（第4册，927——926页）丁酉年为至正十七年（1357年），辛丑年为元至正二十一年（1361年），丙午年为元至正二十六年（1366年），吴元年为元至正二十七年（1367年）。
