南朝梁太平元年（556年）分江州置，领巴山、临川、安成、豫宁郡。（1）治巴山郡（今江西崇仁县西南三十一里）。（2）陈天嘉四年（563年）废高州，临川、安成、豫宁、巴山郡又归江州。（3）
