陈太建十二年（580年）移南豫州治宣城（今安徽宣城）。时南豫州领有陈留、南丹阳、宣城等郡。①隋开皇九年（589年）平陈，改为宣州。②
①《陈书》卷5《宣帝纪》：“（太建）十一年……十二月乙丑，南北兖、晋三州，及盱眙、山阳、阳平、马头、秦、历阳、沛、北谯、南梁等九郡并自拔还京师。谯、北徐州又陷。自是淮南之地尽没于周矣。”（第1册，95页）《资治通鉴》卷173《陈纪七》太建十一年（579年）十二月，“乙丑，南、北兖、晋三州及盱眙、山阳、阳斑点、马头、秦、历阳、沛、北谯、南梁等九郡民并自拔还江南，周又取谯、北徐州，。自是江北之地尽没于周。”（第12册，5402页）是知从太建十一年起南豫州必不治江北之历阳，当迁于江南。迁于何地元明确记载。《旧唐书》卷40《地理志三》：宣州“宣城……梁置南豫州。隋改为宣州。”（第5册，1602页）《太平寰宇记》卷103《江南西道一》：宣州“郡志云：梁承圣元年复江南南豫州郡不废，历梁陈之代，亦为重镇。隋平陈，遂省宣城郡，仍改南豫州为宣州。”（光绪金陵书局本）《资治通鉴》卷174《陈纪八》太建十二年（580年）“春正月，……戊戌，以左卫将军任忠为南豫州刺史，督缘江军防事。”胡注：“此时南豫州治宣城。”（第12册，5404页）
