明洪武九年（1376年）六月，以浙江等处行中书省改置，治杭州府。领九府：杭州府、严州府、绍兴府、明州府、台州府、金华府、衢州府、处州府、温州府。十四年（1381年）十一月，直隶京师的嘉兴府、湖州府来属，辖区扩大。清袭明制，为浙江省2。
