在今上海市川沙县西四灶。清嘉庆年间已有集市，⑴属川沙厅。1911年属川沙县，至今不变。⑵
⑴清宋如林修、孙星衍、莫晋纂：嘉庆《松江府志》卷首《川沙抚民厅全境图》有“四灶镇”地名。据此，暂以嘉庆元年（1796）作为四灶集镇地名出现的年代。
⑵清陈方瀛修、俞樾等纂：光绪《川沙厅志》（清光绪五年（1879）刻本）卷首《全境图》有四灶镇，上海市川沙县地方志编纂委员会编《川沙县志》（上海人民出版社，1990年）卷首《川沙县行政区划图》有四灶。",
