在今上海市金山县南金山卫镇西侧。明初形成聚落，属华亭县。清顺治十三年（1656）属娄县，雍正二年（1724）属金山县，至今不变⑴。
⑴清常琬修、焦以敬等纂：乾隆《金山县志》卷1《镇市》：“西仓市在六保县西门外三里。市有横浦盐场大使署。”（清乾隆十七年（1752）刻本，1929影印清乾隆本，9页）
清宋如林修，孙星衍、莫晋纂：嘉庆《松江府志》卷2《镇市》：“西仓市在六保。市有横浦盐场大使署。”（清嘉庆二十二年（1817）松江府学明伦堂刻本，28页）又：卷14《官署》：“横浦场大使署在金山县西仓镇。初在小篠管街，明洪武十九年迁署于此。”（同前，19页）
按：形成年代暂定在明洪武元年（1368）。隶属关系变化史籍无明确记载，因娄县是析华亭县地置、金山县是析娄县地置，故隶属关系当如此。上海市金山县县志编纂委员会编《金山县志》第四编《乡镇概况》：“西仓在八一村。清代称西仓市。横浦盐场大使署曾建于此。清咸丰年间，清军与太平军鏖战，西仓遭兵燹，由此衰落。”（上海人民出版社，1990年，143页）",
