即今上海市上海县东陈行。约明初形成聚落，⑴明属上海县，清雍正二年（1724）属南汇县，⑵1948年属上海县。⑶
⑴清宋如林修、孙星衍、莫晋纂：嘉庆《松江府志》卷2《镇市》：“陈家行市在（南汇县）十七保。明洪武间陈彦成居此。”（清嘉庆二十二年松江府学明化堂刻本，31页）据此，以明洪武元年（1368）为聚落形成年代。
⑵清金福曾修，张文虎等纂：光绪《南汇县志》卷1《疆域志》：“陈家行，邑北三十六里。明洪武间陈彦成所居。国朝陈曼以画名其家，今其子姓数传，多能守祖风云。”（清光绪五年修，1927年重印本，11页）
⑶上海市上海县县志编纂委员会编《上海县志》第一篇《建置》：“1948年，国民政府行政院决定，南汇县周浦镇以西插入上海县的7个保，约24平方公里……划入上海县。”（上海人民出版社，1993年，93页）陈家行由此划属上海县管辖。“陈行镇为陈行乡政府所在地。位上海县中心，南临周浦塘，北倚天塘路（今陈行路），陈中港流经镇东侧。除抗日战争时期一度属伪南汇区外，向属上海县。明万历年间，浙江南海沙贝乡陈球贩运木材至塘口之东，开设木行，称陈家木知，简为陈家行，其后渐聚成市。”（上海人民出版社，1993年，135页）",
