在今上海市金山县北张堰镇，南宋已有聚落，⑴属华亭县。清顺治十三年（1656)属娄县，雍正二年（1724）属金山县。⑵近代简化为张堰。
⑴明陈威、喻时修，顾清纂：正德《松江府志》卷9《镇市》：“张泾堰镇在七保，去县南五十里。宋人堰海十八所之一也。”（明正德七年（1512）刻本，上海书店，《天一阁藏明代方志选刊续编》，474页）又卷11《官署上》：“（税课局）一在张泾堰，洪武初建成，正德初革，十一年复置。”（同前，552页）
清杨开第修、张文虎等纂：光绪《华亭县志》卷1《疆域》：“张泾堰，七保，在县南五十里。宋人堰海十八所之一。见顾《府志》。郭《府志》云：有吴王著姓居此。俗止称张堰，一名张溪。明初设税课局，旋废。洪武初尝置金山巡检司于此，后亦移置。”（清光绪五年刻本）
开始时间暂定在明。
⑵因析华亭县置娄县、析娄县置金山县，故作此推论。",
