嘉庆《清一统志》卷74《江宁府二·关隘》：“长芦镇，在六合县南二十里。”
按《元丰九域志》卷5六合县：“宣化、长芦二镇”。则镇始成于北宋熙宁、元丰年间。
清嘉庆《江宁府志》卷12《建置》：“长芦镇，六合县南二十五里，滨长芦江，今名水家湾。”
据1978年《江苏省地图集》（内部发行），在今江苏六合县南长芦（水家湾）。",
