清尹继善等修、黄之隽纂：乾隆《江南通志》卷25《关津》：“路口市，江宁县南七十里”，清乾隆《江宁新志》卷6《建置志》：“路口市，在县南七十里，戚氏《志》作路桥市。”
按《景定建康志》卷16《镇市》：“路口市，在城南七十里”，《至正金陵新志》卷4上《镇市》、正德《江宁县志》上《市镇》同。则市始于南宋景定以前。
又清乾隆《江宁新志》卷6《建置志》：“县东南二里曰菜园务铺（东十里接高桥铺，入上元界），又十五里曰河定桥铺，又十五里曰殷巷铺，又十五里曰元武桥铺，又十五里曰秣陵铺，又十五里曰茅亭铺，又七里曰乌刹桥铺。按《金陵志》集庆南路属江宁县铺九，曰士门，曰夹堽，曰迟店，曰清水亭，曰元武桥，曰秣陵，曰李村，曰路口，曰乌刹桥，今并为七：元武、秣陵、乌刹桥仍旧名。”按高桥（1978年《南京市地名录》地名图）、河定桥（1984年《江宁县地名录》地名图）、殷巷、秣陵、乌刹桥（1978年《江苏省地图集》），并在江宁县东南趋溧水县交通线，而秣陵东南至乌刹桥西有地名禄口，乾隆时交通已不复经过，而此前即经行禄口，故疑今禄口即乾隆时之路口。据此，定在今江苏江宁县南禄口。",
