嘉庆《清一统志》卷74《江宁府二·关隘》：“江宁镇巡司，在江宁县西南。”
按《元丰九域志》卷6江宁府江宁县：“江宁、秣陵、金陵三镇”。《景定建康志》卷16《镇市》：“江宁镇，在江宁县西南六十里”。《至正金陵新志》卷4上《镇市》载：□□镇,在江宁县西南六十里。此所缺二字，当为“江宁”。明正德《江宁县志》上《市镇》：“江宁镇，在县西南六十里”，清清乾隆《江宁新志》卷6《建置志》同。清嘉庆《江宁府志》卷12《建置》：“江宁镇，江宁县西南六十里，或谓之金陵镇”，则自北宋熙宁、元丰年间成市后，历南宋、元、明、清相继承袭。
