（1）《隋书》卷31《地理志下》南郡：旧置荆州。又在所领长杨县下曰：“开皇八年（588年）置，并置睦州。”（北京，中华书局，1973年，3册，888页）按：当作隋开皇八年（588年）置睦州，领长杨县。治长杨县。
（2）《太平寰宇记》卷147《山南东道六•峡州》长杨（阳）县：“南崖有长阳溪，因以为名。”又在故佷山县城下曰：“隋开皇九年废，今基在县西六十五里。”（金陵书局，光绪八年刊本，26册，5页）据长阳土家族自治县地方志编纂委员会《长阳县志》：“长杨县治：隋开皇八年改佷山县为长杨县，县以皇姓得名，置治龙舟坪。”（北京，中国城市出版社，1992年，47页）即今长阳县治。（《湖北省地图册》，湖北省测绘局，1990年，74——75页）按：故佷山县治州衙坪，在今县西六十余里。长杨县治即今治，当是。
